GET THE LOOK WITH EMANI DELUXE CREME FOUNDATION
|When it comes to creating a flawless finish for any makeup look there is one technique to always keep in mind: layer and blend, blend, blend (did we mention blend?). It’s always best to start with a little bit of product, blend it out and then add more product, repeating this method until you reach your desired amount of coverage.
Emani’s new Deluxe Crème Foundation glides on skin. It’s specially formulated with peptides, gold and peat that assist in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and provides an overall youthful glow. Here are a few tips to getting the best foundation application possible:
Select the perfect shade
When selecting your all over color, test foundation on your jawline and check it in the daylight. Sometimes foundation can oxidize on skin, meaning as the formula is mixed with the natural oils of your skin, it can deepen in shade. Do a shade text, especially before a big night out.
For highlighting, select 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone. You don’t want to go too light or else you will be left with white rings around your eyes (especially if not properly blended).
For contouring, select 1-3 shades darker than your skin tone. Blending is especially important with contour. Pro tip: the darker in contour you go, the more you need to blend into skin.
Prep skin
Before applying the foundation, be sure skin is cleansed and moisturized to create a perfect makeup canvas. Wait about 5-10 minutes after applying your moisturizer to prime skin with the Perfect 10 Primer Serum. Primer creates a base for your foundation, condition and tone skin, while adding extra wear time for your foundation.
Foundation application
When it comes to applying your Deluxe Crème Foundation (or any foundation) this is where the “layer and blend” technique really comes into play. To get an airbrushed finished, buffing the foundation in with a sponge or a brush (like our V8 Kabuki Brush) is key to truly seamless foundation.
Start with a dot of product on the forehead, 1 dot on each cheek (close to the nose area) and 1 small dot on the chin area. It’s always best to start in the center of the face (otherwise known as your T-Zone) and blend out in a circular motion. As you buff the foundation out, remember to work the product into the hairline, jawline and ears.
Repeat this process until you receive your desired coverage. Don’t forget whatever the foundation isn’t covering, concealer is your next step and will help take care of this.
Concealer
The HD Corrective Concealer offers buildable coverage with a natural-looking finish. Concealer is formulated to be a little bit heavier than foundations, in order to really cover any problematic areas. (Bonus: the HD Corrective Concealer is made with Vitamin C to assist with brightening and firming your complexion!)
Start with a little dot in your most problem areas and lightly tap in product with fingers or use the sponge from your Crème Foundation compact. Perfect concealer is not-over layering, a little bit goes a long way!
Set and check
The last step is to set your look with the HD Bamboo Setting Powder with the V1 Foundation Brush using a light pressing motion to control shine and blur fine lines. Once your foundation is set, check your jawline and hairline to make sure everything has been blended to perfection!
